CREATOR OR VICTIM?

How can we determine if people can be defined as a Creator or a Victim? Did they do something wrong and blame others? Do they help others to encourage one another? Let's find out. Dr. Downing, the author of On Course, has a definition of a Victim that means that they are people who feel that they can affect the outcomes they get in life and so tend to passively accept what happens to them and deal with whatever outcomes they get from their choices not to be Creators which means that people who consistently make the choices that they wish to desire the most and it is also a choice that people make.

People can be defined as a Victim or a Creator because they might do something, whether good or bad even if they didn't know about it. In an example in David Mirman's article "Do You Think Like a Victim or Creator?", a group of college students wanted to find out if they needed their textbook for class and a couple of students didn't get theirs because the bookstore was sold out, but one of them searched all over to find the book that she needed. Before both of them each could receive one, the first student was the Victim because she blamed the bookstore because they didn't have it in stock. The first student was the creator by reaching her goal to receive a textbook online, while the second one didn't. This is an example of Creator and Victim language.

A time when I played a victim was last year during my first semester of college. I haven’t been attending some classes late due to emergencies consist's of job interviews, funerals, etc. I get there by taking the bus, even though it runs a little late.  Every time I take the bus and try to show up to some of my classes, he wouldn’t let me come in at the door and that's how I failed and had my financial aid suspended. The only way I can fix this problem is by taking the bus early, show up to class on time, do all of my work, pass 6 credits, and do whatever it takes to get my financial aid back. I am also working my way through school in order to get it back, because I am willing to get myself back on track without being distracted because I want to be successful in life.  This mistake made me realize how much my career and my dream is worth to me because in order to be successful, I will have to work hard.

Creators are the most important thing in life. However, in life people do make some bad choices and go through rough times, but they are still considered good influences and examples.  An example of a Creator that I know personally is my brother in law, Ernest. Ernest is a great person, a good husband, and a great father. He has been married to my sister for four years now and ever since after my father passed away three years ago, I started to look up to him like a father figure. Whenever I have a problem or if I needed  advice, he has always been there for me. Another Creator that I know mostly is my mother Ernestine Lewis. Throughout the years, my mother has always been there for me whenever I need her. She is a babysitter, dressmaker, homemaker, and missionary. She was born and raised in Norfolk, and while she lived there, hard times seemed rough and her family could'nt afford her to go to college but she had decided to take the GED, even though she didn't have passed it, but that never stops her from trying.  When we have problems with struggles, especially a time when my father was pulling through in the hospital, she has always encourages us to pray on it and wait for all the blessings that God will give us and that's what Creator's should do is pray in order to get where they need to be. I don't know what I would do without her.

I choosed to be a creator because it's better for me to stay positive, focused, encourage people and motivate them to help them achieve their dreams. I can show them by having to help them by using Creator language to  giving advice to encourage them to do whatever it is that they want to do in life. I can also encourage myself to stay in school. I will use a study schedule in order to get my schoolwork done in time. And I will also continue to believe in myself no matter what I want to do. So from now on, I am going to stay as a creator.
